*Both acts have been obsessions for quite some time, glad to see them moving forward with their projects! 2012 seems like it will be a good year for both! :)
I have not been shy at expressing my love for Cherrytree Records artist, Natalia Kills. The artist released her debut album, Perfectionist, here in the US back in August, but I knew of the record since this past April. I felt that the project showed a unique take on pop music from an artist that had a badass style and attitude. The track list included all of the track that were featured on the UK edition, along with a Will.i.Am assisted version of "Free" and current single, "Kill My Boyfriend".
Kills released the anticipated music video for the new single today, after a leaked version made its way onto the web a while back. The video, which has a vintage feel to it, is basically the same as the leaked version, but with a few added scenes. Many viewers will find a disliking towards the clip since the premise is exactly what the title of the track alludes to: Natalia ends up killing her boyfriend in one of the cruelest ways possible.
The track is a unique and enjoyable experience, it helped me boost the overall rating of the album by a few points when I heard it. The video is everything I have come to expect from the artist; I was pleased by the finished product. The music video is a certain improvement from previous effort, "Free", but I do not think it tops the visual creations for "Mirrors" or "Wonderland". Kills may not be receiving a great deal of recognition here in the states just yet, but if she continues down this right path then it won't take long. Be sure to check out the video for Natalia Kills' new single "Kill My Boyfriend" below.
I came across Hyper Crush when I heard "Robo Tech", a technologic, fast-paced pop/hip-hop song that was too bizarre to hate. The sound was something new and different and it was actually quite pleasant. The group is made up of three members, all bring something fresh to the songs that they have released so far. I have known about an upcoming album from the group for quite some time, and now everything is falling into place for them.
Hyper Crush will release their new album, Night Wave, on Feb. 7. The first offering from the new project, "Werk Me", follows in the footsteps of its predecessors. Donny unleashes some clever lines, while Holly crafts an addictive chorus once again. Along with the building anticipation for the album, the group premiered the music video for the first single today as well. The video may not be as progessional as some of the others they have created, but it is still a job well done.
"Werk Me" may not be as catchy as "Kick Us Out" or "Keep Up", songs that did not make the new album's final track list, but it is still another step in the right direction. The track does have some bright moments, and the video will surely please their fans, especially their male fans. I have been waiting over a year for this upcoming album, and the video is just a tease at what to expect. I am not completely bummed about the decision to release "Werk Me" as the first single, but I am hoping for stronger work. Fingers crossed for songs that made me fall in love with them in the first place. Watch the video for Hyper Crush's "Werk Me" below.
