I am so happy that we've come so far this year. We've had greater visibility in the media with shows like Cucumber, Transparent and OITNB, we've challenged and won better gay adoption laws in Ireland, we have also made gay marriage legal in Ireland in May followed by America last night! What a great timing! We also have better support, love and understanding from our straight mates then ever before. We've also started challenging Northern Ireland to do the same.
But there is still far to go.
There are countries that hurt, penalise and treat gay people like dirt and refuse our rights. We still allow some inequality and discrimination in Ireland for LGBT teachers and workers. Northern Ireland has yet to allow gay marriage at all. In those who support us, great and wonderful however, there are still those who voted no and those who are homophobic. Lets keep going and make 2016 pride even more of a reason to celebrate.
