Hair Type: Dry and Frizzy

I have been using different henna brands available in market from past few years. Ayur have been my favourite from a long time. Even other brands worked fine for me as long as I mixed either eggs or yogurt to them before applying on hair, failing to do which led my hair to turn extremely dry and frizzy. I had stopped taking care of my hair from last two years. Now again I have started my weekly henna regimen and today, I will review for you henna from a brand that I have grown to love very much – Nature’s Essence Henna Plus Leaves.

My Experience with Nature’s Essence Henna Plus Leaves:
Before I begin with the review, let me describe my hair type. I have shoulder length hair, frizzy and dry. I also suffer from hair loss, although the condition is improving. The powder is light green in colour and has the characteristic tangy smell that henna powders have. I love this smell. The application process as described in the sachet requires one to mix the powder with water to form a paste of appropriate thickness and leave it for 20 minutes before applying. Then, apply it all over the hair for about 30-40 minutes before washing it off with water. I however, add some curd to it because henna without curd makes my hair even more dry and frizzy. I also add instant coffee powder to the paste for a rich colour.
About 50 gm is more than enough for my shoulder length hair. I apply the paste generously all over my hair and leave it for a whole one hour instead of the suggested 30-40 minutes, mostly because I am used to putting on any natural hair mask for nothing less than an hour. Then, I wash it off with cold water. Getting it off the hair does require some efforts, but the results are so good that I don’t really care. My hair seems soft and shiny. The frizz also seems controlled. It makes my hair a lot easier to manage. The henna gives a slight orange colour to my grey hair after first use. But the colour intensifies after further uses. It gives a slight brown colour to overall hair. But, this isn’t a con for me as I love the natural colour it gives to my hair.
Summing it up, it makes a great mask for your hair, making it smooth and shiny and frizz free. If you are using it for colouring your hair, then you have to be patient to get intense colour after 2-3 uses. One more thing, if you are getting intense colour from any henna powder from first usage, then it definitely has some kind of dye or colouring agent in it. The natural henna intensifies to dark brown colour after 3-4 uses.
