APPEAL COURT STOPS EXECUTION OF TWO CONVICTED SOLDIERS

The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has granted stay of execution of the death sentence passed on two of the twelve Nigerian Soldiers convicted last year for alleged complicity in acts of mutiny by a Military court martial.
Three of the convicted soldiers, CPL Stephen Clement. CPL Igomu Emmanuel and
PTE Andrew Ngbede had gone to the appellant court through their lawyer Chief Godwin Obla, SAN to challenge their conviction to life imprisonment and death.
The 3 convicted soldiers argued that the proceedings of the  Military court that convicted them were fraught with  irregularities.
They therefore prayed for stay of execution of their sentences until their appeal has been heard and concluded.
One of the soldier's appeal is yet to be heard.
